Los negocios del área de Tampa Bay se han visto afectados grandemente especialmente en los últimos meses por los altos contagios de coronavirus. Entre el 1 de marzo al 10 de julio el área metro de Tampa Bay perdió alrededor de 1,228 negocios que cerraron, cerca de 150 de estos eran de comercio minorista, y alrededor de 125 restaurantes también cerraron. Por otro lado el estado ha reportado alrededor de 4,700 negocios que han cerrado permanentemente y alrededor de 4,100 que cerraron de manera temporal.
