Binge Or Bounce: American Murder Gabby Petito On Netflix

I was waiting for American Murder Gabby Petito to hit Netflix all weekend and when it hit yesterday, I watched it all in one sitting. The story of 22 year-old Gabby Petito is one that made nationwide headlines back in September 2021. If you need a recap, she, along with her boyfriend Brian Laundrie, bought a van and hit the road, documenting their van life journey out west. Everything was seemingly ok until it wasn't and Gabby went missing. It took many different resources from far and wide to search for her, when eventually her body was found in Wyoming's Bridger–Teton National Forest. We later found out she was murdered by Brian, who ended up taking his own life at Carlton Reserve and Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park in North Port. Because Brian Laundrie and his family live in Southwest Florida, where Gabby was also living for a time before they hit the road, I feel like the coverage we got here was more than what was broadcast to the rest of the country, but this new Netflix series dives in even further. Binge Or Bounce: American Murder Gabby Petito On Netflix I'm such a huge fan of true crime, that as soon as a new documentary or docuseries comes out on just about any case, I'm all over it. Because this one played out, in a way, here in Southwest Florida, I followed it very closely as it was happening, but after watching this 3-part docuseries, American Murder Gabby Petito, I feel like I now know even more. What we saw from news coverage while Gabby was missing and what happened after with Brian was all included in the series, but what I liked was that we got to hear from those that were closest to her. Her friends, ex-boyfriend and parents as well. You really get more of a feel of what was actually going on in their relationship and more of who Gabby was a person. A perfect example of what you see on the internet isn't always what is really going on behind the scenes. While it's hard to watch, especially knowing what happened to her, it's very interesting hearing different perspectives. Plus, you see text messages, journal entries and police body-cam footage. Brian Laundrie's family is only shown in the ways we saw on the news. No additional interviews or commentary. Whether you watched this case as it was happening through the news or the various TikTok channels that covered it, or you're brand new to the story, I definitely recommend American Murder Gabby Petito. I'm sure once you start, you'll binge it in one sitting just like I did.
